Hello all,
How are you? I hope you had a peaceful and pleasant Christmas and New Year despite the continuing craziness of our pandemic stricken world. As things have begun to settle into something like a ‘new normal’, Millie and I wanted to give you an update on things here at Patchwork Castle.
It’s February – hurrah! I know some people embrace January but it is never my favourite month- it’s too cold, the days are too short and dark, and it takes me ages to find my mojo post Christmas. However, it’s been sunny today and it’s a little lighter in the evenings – so time to get moving!
Looking back on the last couple of years
Millie joined the business as a partner back in late 2018 and I moved back into a role at a local University that same year. Things went well over 2019 and we were just finding our groove working as a partnership with new roles when the pandemic hit. Order levels tanked for a few months and then gradually picked up again – kids still grew, life events still happened and loved ones sadly passed away.
2021 was a steady away year for Patchwork Castle. We definitely had a little less work on the books than we’d have preferred last year, but we had some really wonderful commissions and made some beautiful keepsakes.

We’ve decided that for 2022 we want to look at things with fresh eyes and see how we can serve you best.
On the drawing board
Our first priority for 2022 (aside from making the lovely commissions we have in the order book!) will be to make sure you have all the information you need to order (or make) your keepsake baby clothes or adult clothes quilts or cushions with confidence.
We’ve added a shop front to our Facebook page to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for if you want to order. Alongside this, we are in progress with spring cleaning the website pages for our baby clothes quilts and cushions and adult clothes keepsakes and tidying up the order process for our Make Your Own Baby Clothes Memory Quilt Tutorial.
More widely, we’re thinking carefully about how we can use social media, our email list and this blog to share helpful and interesting information, keep in touch with current followers and hopefully reach people who haven’t heard about us yet.
We also have some plans for exciting new products – more about that in future posts!
Thank you!
Finally, a huge thank you to you! It remains an enormous privilege to create these quilts and cushions, and we are so grateful to be trusted with your precious keepsakes and the stories that often accompany them.
Please do get in touch if you have any questions or there is anything we can help you with.
Pass It On (please!)
