Hello again from Patchwork Castle. I hope you are enjoying the run up to the Easter weekend. It’s nice to have the kids at home for the holidays, and we are enjoying a break together including a much anticipated trip to Legoland! I expect a lot of chocolate eating is going to go on this weekend.
Before I went off on my hols I made lots of progress with the memorial patchwork quilt from my earlier post. It’s now all quilted and just waiting final binding. I’m very pleased with how it turned out.
As you can see, it is freehand machine quilted in a lovely random meandering stipple. It works really well with the fabrics, and adds lots of movement.
The back looks particularly nice. I chose a slightly patterned batik fabric for the backing to coordinate with all the lovely blues and aquas in the quilt top. The swirly quilting makes it look like water – my kids say it looks like the sea!
I’ll get on with the binding when I get back into the studio, as well as some brisk walks by the sea to work off the chocolate eggs!
Happy Easter. Cx
